Enlarged skin pores are matter of a great concern especially for women of all ages. Though it is worrisome situation for the people of any skin type but people with oily skin or combination skin have to put some extra effort to fight against the open pores. If you do not take care of your skin especially facial skin properly, the pores will start becoming larger and larger and then easily be clogged while leading towards pimples, excessive sebum production, discoloration and blackheads. If not treated at early stages these pores may looks worse than they actually are. Open pores generally appear on T-zone i.e. forehead, nose and chin. The area around the nose is also very sensitive for open pores.

Open pores are usually “little openings of hair follicle onto surface of the skin that used to provide a way for oil glands underneath to lubricate as well as protect the surface of the skin”. Pores are a natural part of your skin and play a vital in the skin physiology. Without pores your skin won’t be able to breath. The secretion they produce ensures the important skin moisture and oiliness as well as all the nutrients supplied through pores.

There are several causes that make the pores enlarged; some are as follow:

  • Overuse of make up
  • Smoking
  • Improper diet
  • Trapped dirt, oil, dead skin cells

  • Improper cleansing
  • Skin dehydration

This is really very unfortunate that there is not any way to make the pores invisible or to shrink them forever. But there are a few methods and procedures you can adopt in order to minimize the appearance of pores. Here are some suggested techniques:

Exfoliation is very essential for keeping the skin clean and proves very helpful in prevention of enlarged facial pores. You may use a mild exfoliator twice a week in order to remove the dead skin cells.
